Show Us Your Life ~ Kid's Rooms

Today on Kelly's Korner, we are showing off our Kid's Rooms and as a bonus, I'm showing you our playroom too!

First, the playroom.  Can you tell we have a boy?  Eventually, we will move his playroom up to our bonus room (if we are still in the same house).  For now, we've turned our guest room into his playroom.  We never have guests anyway.  You can't see it very well, but the desk here used to be my desk as a child.  It was a light wood color.  We sanded it and re-stained it a darker color.  Came out great!

Mason actually picked out this wall art himself.  We were in HomeGoods one day, just looking around, and we came across these wooden plaques.  Super cute, boyish, and something that will last for a few years.  I just love them and the fact that they were only $5/each.  ;)

Of course, I had to incorporate green.  LOVE green!  I love this pattern too.  Wouldn't mind having throw pillows in this design.

We love our daily planner.  I still need to put a picture of Mason in it, but we try to look at it every day and talk about what we are doing.  I'm sure he'll have a better understanding of this as he gets older, but for now we look outside to see what the weather will be, we change the day of the week and what our activity will be for that day.  He has no idea of days of the week yet.  Every day could be Saturday.  That would be great, right?!

He loves to hang his art on the wall.  He's so proud.  Just a simple curtain rod with clip hooks.

Lots of cars and trucks makes Mason a happy boy (most of the time).  HA!

Now on to his bedroom.  Honestly, there is not much different from his nursery to his room now.  There are only a few things that have been added since then.

We added a 'library' with his beanbag.  He loves to look at books and especially loves to sit in his 'bag chair'.

We took down the side rails of his crib to make a 'big boy' bed.  He loves it and has done great at staying in his bed.  I thought it would be an ordeal....putting him back in bed a hundred times.

Did you notice the bumper pad?  We have a rocker.  He likes to rock back and forth and sometimes it is very hard, to the point, he was getting bruises on his back.  So, we had to put the bumper pad around this end of his bed.  Apparently, according to his pediatrician, he does this to soothe himself.  He has been rocking since he was able to sit up.

When I was pregnant, I found this print on Ebay that matched his bedding (which I think, now it's discontinued).  I still love it!

Magnetic train from his Grammy and PawPaw.  Such a cute train!

I also ordered this block name set.  The letters are just vinyl stickers, but I was impressed at how well it turned out.  I have used these letters, twice now, for his birthday parties.

We have to keep this special book on the shelf.  It was given to him by his Aunt and Uncle.  It is personalized with his name and the names of some of his relatives.  I love things like this.  He will have this for years to come and can share it with his children.

One of the other items we've added are these paper laterns from World Market.  He calls them balls and wants to hit them every night before bed.  They added so much character to his room.

I hope you guys enjoyed the tour.  I'm looking forward to seeing your childrens room too.  Maybe I'll get some inspiration to update Mason's room to a 'big boy' room.

Thanks for stopping by.  Next week, we will be showing off our bathrooms.

Sweet kisses

Last night I asked Mason, "where is Mommy's sweet boy"?  He said, "I'm right here Mommy"?  I never want to forget the feeling of my sweet baby boy and his sweet kisses.

Oh my goodness!  This is one of the best feelings in the world.  I hope there are many more sweet kisses in my future!

New stuff

As I sit here in my bed, sick as a dog, (thanks to my son, Mason), I have something new to share with you.  As suggested by one of my friends (aka coupon buddy), I joined Vocalpoint.  Seriously, I don't know why I didn't know about this sooner.  Sometimes, I think I live under a rock.  HA!

Here's the lowdown.  Become a member to receive coupons, samples, product information, special offers, and the list goes on.  Guess what?  It's free!  OK!  I'm in!

Now, you are going to benefit from this too!  Since I have a blog and you are reading it right now (thank you), I will receive full size samples to test and review.  Of course I will post my reviews here and you can read it, before you buy it.  Sound good?

Hopefully my first review will be the Swiffer 360 Duster.  I have already applied for my sample, however, this will take 5 - 7 weeks to receive.

I'm very excited about this and most excited to share my thoughts with you.  I am such a clean freak, so this is right up my ally!  HA!  It's the little things in life, right?

I'm excited to be the first to know!  Bring it on!

Show Us Your Life ~ Dining Rooms

Hey ya'll!  I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner and today is all about dining rooms!  We are just not fancy people at all, so when we downsized, we looked for a home without all the fancy stuff.  We had all of those features in our home of 8 years and during that time, I think we may have used those rooms a total of 5 times.  Seriously, wasted space!

We have a eat-in-kitchen or breakfast area and this is where we eat all of our meals.

A close up of our bakers rack.  Funny thing....the wine bottles you see are basically just for looks, I guess.  Yes, they do have wine in them, but I wouldn't drink it.  We have had the same bottles for like 10 years!

And since I'm new to Kelly's Korner, I'll show you our kitchen too!

I told you it was nothing fancy! HA!  We still have the builder's paint.  Maybe we'll paint one day.  Don't you just love those polka dot napkins!  Oh!  Sorry about the medicine in the picture.  We have a sick baby boy!  Just keepin' it real!

The door is to our laundry room and just around the corner is the master bedroom.  I guess we really do need to paint.  After looking at these pictures, it's kind of plain in here.

My diy chalkboard features our weekly dinner menu.  This has been so handy for me.  I'm prepared each day and I don't have to 'freak out' at 4:00 thinking, what are we having for dinner?

This is, what our builder called, a plant shelf.  Just another shelf to put stuff on that you never use and you have to dust once every 3 months or so.  Honestly, this shelf needs help.  The ceiling is so tall, the items I have on the shelf are just swallowed.  Way to small.  I need some ideas!  Maybe some apothecary jars or some other type of tall stuff that you never use.  :)

Here is a close up of our recent diy cornice board.  The fabric we used to cover the board is actually outdoor fabric, but we really liked it and the price was right ($6.00/yd.).

Thanks so much for visiting.  I'm looking forward to seeing your dining rooms too!

Sick baby

There is nothing worse than having a sick child and feeling helpless.  This is the way I have felt this week.

Mason has been running a fever for a couple of days now and this morning, he woke up with this on his leg.  I thought (before we went to the doctor) it was his eczema.

Of course, I start to google frantically.  Eczema....fever....inflamed....infected

Help!  What is wrong with my baby?

So, I call the doctor's office, spoke to the nurse, told her his symptoms.  She said, can you be here in an hour.  You betcha!  So, here we go.

Well, my baby has a virus that has created this rash.  GEEZ!  I don't know if I feel relived or mad because I didn't call the doctor sooner.

As mothers, we have a hard job.  Just when you think you know what's right, this happens.

Baby boy is on bed rest.  Lots of TLC and juice!

The eczema is another story. We'll talk about that one later.

Pinterest Tip

Yes, I'm addicted to Pinterest

If you love having an organized life, but have no clue where to begin, please check out this blog IHeart Organizing.  I found this blog through pinning and I thought it was awesome.  Of course, I have now pinned it to my awesome blog board.

Take on one project at a time.  Don't overwhelm yourself.

Have Fun!

Show Us Your Life ~ Master Bedroom

I'm trying something new!  I have followed Kelly's Korner blog for a while now, but I've never linked up with her on Fridays during the "Show Us Your Life" (aka SUYL) series.  I love seeing the decorating ideas of others.  So, here we go!

Our master bedroom.  When we first moved into our home (after downsizing), 2 years ago, my husband and I were like, "YIKES", this is a small master bedroom.  Honestly, now, we find it comfortable and more like home.

The bedding and drapes came from JcPenney.

I've had this furniture forever and I still like it, but wish it were a bit more modern.  I don't really like brass fixtures.  I guess it would be an easy project to change them out, right?

I find it hard, too, to decorate with the darker furniture.  I don't want our room to appear dark and I feel like the colors I chose are Fall colors.  Don't get me wrong, I love Fall.  I'm thinking I need to change things around for Spring and Summer.  What do you think?

The pillows are from World Market and I like the fact that you can take them off to wash.

My side of the bed, of course, has books (which I never have time to read) and lots of smelly lotions!  HA!

The husband's side of the bed has the remote! What else does he need, right?

Pictures over the bedFrames over the bed are from Kohl's.  The picture doesn't do them justice.  They really are pretty frames with a hint of gold.

Display shelf and initial is from Hobby Lobby.  One of my favorites stores, but not close to me at all.  I love to go when I visit my Mom!

This is a poem that my Mom gave me years and years ago.  I'm so glad I had it framed back then and it has been in my room since.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our room.  Thanks so much for stopping by.
